Professional learning attendance approvals

This feature allows Professional Learning (PL) approvers to review and manage all PL event requests submitted by staff members who have selected them as the approver.

  • The PL approver provides initial approval for a staff member to attend a PL event.

  • Final approval is granted by a PL Manager when they activate the event.

If your school does not have a designated PL approver, a PL Manager will act as the default approver.

Note:

  • This feature is available exclusively to PL approvers.

  • Requests to attend past Professional Learning (PL) events cannot be approved or declined.

Filter and search Professional Learning (PL) events

Use the toolbar at the top of the page to filter and search Professional Learning (PL) events.

  1. Use the filter options in the top toolbar to set your desired criteria.

    • Date range: Specify a start and end date to filter events within a specific time period.

  2. Click Search to apply the filters and display the results.

Manage Professional Learning (PL) event search results

The grid displays your filtered Professional Learning (PL) event results, along with action columns for managing individual items. Each action column contains icons that allow you to perform specific tasks.

Icon button states in the action columns

Icons change to indicate status.

  • Outline icon: Indicates no content has been added.

  • Filled icon: Indicates content has been added or the action is complete.

  • Approved

  • Requested

  • Declined

Approve a staff request to attend a Professional Learning (PL) event
  1. Click the Approve icon button.

  2. The status icon updates to indicate the staff member’s request has received initial approval.

Note:
The staff member will only receive an email notification confirming their full approval to attend the event after the PL Manager activates the event and approves the participants. This email will notify them that the event has been approved, activated, and is ready to proceed.

Decline a staff request to attend a Professional Learning (PL) event
  1. Click the Decline icon button.

  2. The status icon updates to indicate the staff member’s request has been declined.

Download details of the Professional Learning (PL) event as PDF
  1. Click Download details icon button.

  2. Locate the downloaded file (usually in your "Downloads" folder).

  3. Open the PDF in your default PDF viewer (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, Preview, or a web browser).

  4. Print if needed.

Download a Professional Learning (PL) event file

This is a file containing information about the Professional Learning (PL) event (If available).

  1. Click Download file icon button.

  2. Locate the downloaded file (usually in your "Downloads" folder).

  3. Open the PDF in your default PDF viewer (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, Preview, or a web browser).

  4. Print if needed.

Add Professional Learning (PL) event to calendar

The exact steps may differ slightly depending on your computer and operating system.

  1. Click Add to calendar icon button.

  2. Locate the downloaded file (usually in your "Downloads" folder).

    • If a file (e.g., .ics) is downloaded, open it. Your calendar application should automatically launch and prompt you to add the event

  3. Save the event:

    • Review the event details (date, time, location, etc.) and click Save or Add to Calendar to confirm.

  1. Click View Cover Required Details to see the required cover for staff absences related to the PL event.

View staff feedback of a Professional Learning (PL) event
  1. Click the View Staff Feedback icon button to access feedback, reflections, and evaluations provided by participants after attending the PL event.

View the Professional Learning (PL) event website
  1. Click the Event Name text link to visit the event’s website.
