Professional practice days
This module is designed to streamline the management of staff Professional Practice Day (PPD) event requests. It supports the entire workflow—from initial application and revisions to final approval—ensuring a smooth and efficient process for both applicants and managers.
Professional Practice Day (PPD) event email notifications
Setup PL manager notification preferences
Go to My EMS > My Notification Settings.
Check the Receive an email each time a Professional Learning event or PPD request is submitted box to enable notifications.
Notification types:
PPD Request: Sent to all PD Managers when a staff member submits a new PPD request.
PPD Approved: Sent to the applicant when the PD Manager approves their request.
PPD Revised Request: Sent to all PD Managers when the applicant revises their PPD request.
PPD Declined: Sent to the applicant when the PD Manager declines their request.
Professional Practice Day (PPD) event request workflow
The PPD event request workflow allows applicants to submit, revise, and provide feedback on their PPD requests.
Applicant actions:
Applicants can update their PPD request details after initial submission.
Note: Minor updates do not trigger notifications.
Professional Learning (PL) manager actions:
Approve:
Approve the PPD request.
An "Approved!" email is automatically sent to the applicant.
Decline:
Decline the PPD request.
Optionally, provide a "Decline Comment" with suggestions for improvement.
A decline email, including your comment, is automatically sent to the applicant.
Applicant revisions:
If a request is declined, the applicant can revise their PPD request based on your feedback.
A "Revised Request" notification is sent to all PL Managers for review.
Post-PPD feedback:
After attending the PPD event, the applicant can add feedback to the PPD record. This helps improve future events and planning.
Create a Professional Practice Day (PPD) event request for a staff member
Click Add PPD.
Enter details.
Select a staff member.
Select a Focus Area from menu options.
Click Submit & Approve.
Export a spreadsheet of Professional Practice Day (PPD) events
Click Export.
Locate the downloaded file (usually in your "Downloads" folder).
Open the file using a spreadsheet application (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
Print if needed.
Filter and search Professional Practice Days
Use the filter options in the top toolbar to set your desired criteria.
Date range: Specify a start and end date to filter results within a specific time period.
Click Search to apply the filters and display the results.
Manage Professional Practice Days search results
The grid displays your filtered results with action columns for managing individual items. Each action column contains icons that allow you to perform specific tasks.
Icon button states in the action columns
Icons change to indicate status.
Outline icon: Indicates no content has been added.
Filled icon: Indicates content has been added or the action is complete.

Modify details of a Professional Practice Day (PPD) event
Click Edit.
Make changes.
Click Save.
Action a request to attend a Professional Practice Day (PPD) event
Approve or decline staff requests to attend a Professional Practice Day (PPD) event.
Click Edit.
Click Approve or Decline.
Delete a Professional Practice Day (PPD) event
Click Delete.
Confirm the deletion.
View staff member feedback a Professional Practice Day (PPD) event
Click Edit.
View feedback comments.
